I have decided to use this book in my principles class this semester.
In addition, I have asked the students to contribute $20 to a prize fund, on a voluntary basis.
And, I will contribute $2 for every person that contributes $20.
You are all aware that the devil is in the details. In a last minute meeting with the head and DGS (am a grad. student) a few questions were raised.
(1) Who should contol the prize money? Should it be a university account, my account, or other? Suggestions please.
(2) Should I have the students sign a contract that outlines the rules of the experiments and the fact that if you don't contribute, then you don't get a cut of the prize fund? How have you handled this issue?
(3) Does this type of experiment fall under the heading of "human subject research?" If so, should I fallow those guidelines ( that is do morew paper work.)
Has anyone confonted these questions? And, more importantly, what were your responces.
My class starts tomorrow 1/21/98. Any and all responses are welcomed.
