Tentative Schedule
Most of the lectures will be held in the Winiarski Building (room 206).
Week 1
- Sunday, 26 June
- 1800-2000: reception and dinner at the Thorpe Room, Peterson Student Center (students from both GWS and GWSII).
- Monday, 27 June
- 0900-0930 (including GWSII): welcome, introductions, and administrative details
- 0930-1200: introduction to computational social science (Miller/Page)
- 1200-1300: lunch (including GWSII students)
- 1300-1330: small group homework problem and computer details
- 1330-1430: meeting for GWSII students
- 1330-: work on homework
- Tuesday, 28 June
- 1000-1200: homework discussion (group presentations)
- 1200-1400: lunch, prepare individual talks
- 1400-1730: individual student talks (~10 minutes each) on
current/future work
- 1900-?: continue student talks (if needed)
- Wednesday, 29 June
- 1000-1200: topic TBA--Scotte Page, Michigan and SFI
- 1200-1400: lunch
- 1400-1600: adaptive computation and applications--John Miller, CMU and SFI
- Thursday, 30 June
- 1000: homework write-ups due (single directory with index.html and associated html files)
- 1000-1200: information, innovation, and creative destruction on Wikipedia---Simon DeDeo, Indiana/CMU.
- 1200-1400: lunch
- 1400-1600: TBA---Chris Kempes, SFI.
- Friday, 1 July
- 0830: shuttles to SFI leaving from the circle near the pond
- work and one-on-one project discussions

- 1700: shuttles return to St. John's
- Saturday, 2 July
- Fun in New Mexico!
Various opportunities, including rafting, pueblo tours, hot
springs, hiking, old churches, ruins, etc., etc.
Week 2
- Sunday, 3 July
- 0900-1300: work, work, work
- 1300: two page project descriptions (and your two designated
referees) are due for your research project
- 1300-1630: individual meetings on projects (~15 minutes each)
- 1700: GWSII meeting at SFI to review projects
- individual research
- Monday, 4 July
- Tuesday, 5 July
- Wednesday, 6 July
- Thursday, 7 July
- 0830: shuttles leave for SFI for Conference
- 0900: paper due
- 0900-1200: paper presentations (Collins room, SFI), 20
minutes each.
- 1200-1300: lunch
- 1300-1700: paper presentations continue
- 1700-1930: SFI BBQ
- 1930: shuttles return to SFI
- Friday, 8 July
St. John's meal times (7 days a week)--subjected to change:
