A Simple(?) Homework Problem (1998)
Solutions to the standing ovation problem (1995-97).
Is That Seat Taken?
Consider the following situation:
The doors have just been opened to an auditorium, and students, anticipating
yet another brilliant economics lecture, begin to file in and take seats.
Model, using whatever techniques you desire,
the process of seating in the auditorium.
- Explicitly state your model.
- Summarize any results.
- Suggest some potentially interesting future directions for
the model.
Suggest some social scenarios that could be usefully modeled
using such a process.
